Governor vacancies

The School Governors at St James' are drawn from various walks of life.  As Governor's terms of office come to an end, new Governors are elected to ensure the board blends experience with a fresh outlook.  

If you are interested in the work the Governors do and would like to join the Governing Board at St James’ CEC Primary School please contact the office so you can be kept informed of any future available Governor roles.

Key attributes for a Governor are the desire, time, determination and commitment to enjoy working in a cooperative environment, to further the opportunities of every child at school. 

The Governing Board’s main tasks are: 

- To ensure that the school has a clear vision, ethos and strategic direction;
- To hold the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils;
- To oversee the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent. 

The most important attribute Governors bring to the school is our willingness to support the school, holding senior leaders to account for the education of the children, by getting to know the school well: both its strengths and weaknesses and monitoring the planned improvements.

If appointed, training and support will be available to help you develop into the role; this will include inhouse mentoring and support as well as access to external Governor training.
